How it works

A cat hunts with her ears before her eyes: the rustle in the grass comes first, the pounce second.

From the top: a short cord loop, a lobster clasp that snaps onto the loop at the end of any wand string, the two bells, then a steel swivel so a twisting cluster does not wind up your string, and the feathers bound beneath it.

A feather attachment is a consumable.
Pack guide
Fits any wand with a string that ends in a loop or a clip: the Bird Feather Wand Set, a fishing-rod style wand, a string on a stick. It does not fit a wand with a fixed, sewn-on toy.
The jingle jangle is the ground game: drag it, stop it, twitch it. Kittens, older cats and cats who will not leave the floor do best with it. A leaper wants the helicopter dropped from height; a stalker wants the bird attachment dragged.
Retire an attachment when a feather comes off or a bell works loose. Loose feathers get eaten, and a bell is small enough to swallow. Five in the box is for this.
Any wand with a string and a loop or clip. One on the wand, four in the drawer; a good hunter goes through them, which is the point.

How to

Open the clasp, hook it through the loop at the end of the wand string, let it close. Leave the other four in the box.

Drag it along the floor in short runs and stops, behind a chair leg, under the edge of a rug. Let her stalk it.

Out of sight, hold it still. Count to three. One small twitch, so the bells sound once. Most cats commit on the second twitch.

Every session ends with the attachment in her mouth and a minute to chew it. Pulling it away at the end is how cats learn the game is rigged.

In a drawer, attachment and all. A wand left out is a string left out, and a string is the one toy that ends in surgery.
Vet noteDr Duncan Houston, emergency veterinarian
A wand toy is for supervised play and goes in a drawer after it, every time, because a swallowed string is a surgical emergency and a cat will chew one when nobody is watching. The feathers pull out under a good catch and the two bells are small: retire an attachment when a feather goes or a bell loosens, and take the whole toy away from a cat who eats feathers rather than shaking them, because eating non-food things has causes and a vet should hear about it. The clasp and swivel are not for a cat to chew on unattended. If she vomits, strains or stops eating in the day or two after a play session and you cannot find all of an attachment, that is a same-day vet visit, not a wait-and-see.
Why I designed it
Watch a cat in long grass. She is not looking, she is listening: head cocked, waiting for the rustle that gives the prey away. The jingle jangle plays that game indoors. Drag it behind a chair leg and out of sight, hold it still, then twitch it, and the two small bells tell her where it went; the pounce comes at the sound, not the sight. The feathers give her something to catch when she gets there. Five to a box, because the catch is supposed to wreck them, and they clip onto the wand you already own. Gary arrives at the first jingle, from wherever he was.

Unlike plastic alternatives, these maintain their appeal over months of use. The jingle sound adds an element of surprise to playtime.
The subtle sounds intensify my cat's natural stalking behaviors magnificently. These feather attachments are built to last through intense play.
FAQ
They should not be, and the page will state which bird they come from once the supplier confirms it in writing. Cockatoos are protected native birds in Australia and their feathers cannot be sold, so a product made from real ones could not be on this store. White feathers with a yellow strand in a cockatoo's colours are dyed farmed-bird feathers in every case I have seen; until the confirmation arrives, the specs say "to be confirmed".
If your wand has a string that ends in a loop or a small clip, yes: the lobster clasp opens, hooks through and closes. It fits the Bird Feather Wand Set and the usual fishing-rod style wands. It does not fit a wand with the toy sewn on. The wand is not in this box.
Because a feather attachment is meant to be caught, and a caught feather toy loses feathers. A light cat gets weeks out of one; a big cat breaks feathers off in a session and carries on playing with what is left. Five means the game does not stop when one goes. Retire an attachment when a feather comes off or a bell works loose.
There are two on each attachment and they are small, which is why the attachment goes in a drawer after play and is retired when a bell works loose. A cat who chews the bells or the clasp rather than the feathers should have the toy taken away. Nothing with a string or a small part stays out unsupervised.
Jingle jangle for the cat who hunts by ear: drag it out of sight and let the bells call her. Bird for the stalker: drag it in the open and let her pounce. Helicopter for the leaper: it spins as it falls. If you do not know which cat you have, the Bird Feather Wand Set has two of each and the wand.
Both, and better than the other two for an older cat: the game is on the floor, the sound does the work her eyes used to, and a slow twitch is all it takes. A kitten wants short sessions with the attachment always ending in her mouth for a minute, so she learns the game pays. A senior who has stopped chasing anything at all is worth a vet check before a new toy.
Email hello@purrz.com within 7 days of delivery with a photo and your order number; faulty, damaged or incorrect items are covered and we pay the return shipping when the error is ours. A cat who ignores it in the open often wants it hidden first; take it behind something and let the bells do the introduction.
