- 0:00 Two ways home. This one shows you where she is. This one tells whoever finds her how to reach you. You want both, and I will tell you why in a minute.
- 0:10 The tracker: GPS, its own mobile connection, a screen, a fortnight of battery, 68 grams. The tag: silicone, a QR code, an NFC chip, no battery at all. Tap it with a phone and my number comes up.
- 0:22 The tracker has a QR on its screen too, so why the tag? Because the tracker comes off to charge, runs flat on a bad night, and stops at the edge of coverage. The tag is on her every hour of every day. One finds her; the other makes sure she can be returned.
- 0:34 Cats over four kilos; weigh her. A breakaway collar, always. And the tracker needs a plan, which the app shows you before it charges anything. The tag is free for life.
- 0:46 Set the tag up first. Scan it, open the app, two phone numbers and her medical line. Ten minutes, and she is identified before the tracker has finished charging.
- 0:54 Gary wears both: the tracker on his walks, the tag every day. If she comes home after a night away looking fine, she still gets checked over, because bite wounds show late.

How it works
Why a tracker and a tag together, and who the set is for

The tracker finds her. The tag finds you.
Most lost cats are close, silent and under something, and the search fails because you do not know which garden.
- Walk to the dotThe tracker sends her position over its own mobile connection, so you walk to the dot, and radar and a collar tone do the last few metres.
- Scan or tap with any phoneThe tag works the other way: whoever finds her scans or taps it with any phone, no app, and you get an alert.

On the charger every fortnight, and she is still identified
The tracker's battery runs up to two weeks in normal tracking, less with live tracking or poor reception, so it comes off her collar to charge; a plan can lapse; coverage runs out at the edge of town.
- No battery, no plan, no signalThe tag has no battery, no plan and no signal to lose.
- The layer always on herIt is the layer that is always on her, and the reason this is a bundle rather than a tracker.

Cats over 4 kg, a breakaway collar, and what the plan costs
The tracker is 57 x 45 x 22 mm and 68 g with its strap, rated by the maker for cats over 4 kg; this page holds to that, so weigh her first.
- A breakaway collar, nothing elseBoth go on a breakaway collar and nothing else.
- Plan in the app, price firstLive tracking needs a Tracker Plan, chosen in the app with the price shown first; the tag's profile is free for life.

Weigh her first. The tracker is for cats over 4 kg and this bundle is too; at 68 g it is a serious object on a small cat's neck. Under 4 kg she wears the Cat Smart ID Tag on its own, which weighs a few grams, and the tracker waits until she does not.
-
The tag size is the only choice that changes the price. Small is the tag for a cat whatever her size; Medium is larger, easier to scan at arm's length, for a wide collar or a big cat. The Slide-On threads flat onto the strap for the cat who chews anything that dangles, and needs a strap it fits. The tracker colour is a colour.
-
Breakaway collar only, for both. The tracker straps to the collar under her chin or to one side, the tag clips to the D-ring, and the collar still has to open under her weight if it catches. Two fingers under it, the skin under the tracker checked every time you charge it, and a cat still scratching at it after a week is a cat who wears the tag alone.

Specifications
- The tracker
- 57 x 45.4 x 21.5 mm, 68 g with its strap; GPS for position and its own mobile connection (LTE-M or NB-IoT through partner networks) to send it; Bluetooth radar, a light and eight collar tones for nearby finding; IPX67; a colour touchscreen with a QR ID in lost mode; up to 2 weeks of battery in normal tracking; USB-C charging. Cats over 4 kg (all of it the spec sheet; the listing's "30+ day battery", "4G/LTE" and "waterproof" are the older claims)
- Plans and what is free
- Live tracking, zones, activity and sleep need a Tracker Plan (paid monthly, or annual for less) or Premium (for two pets, adding AI Vet Chat, two certified vet chats a month and health tracking). The tag's profile and the QR ID on the tracker's screen are free for life. Prices are on askavet.com; the app shows them before anything is charged
- The tag
- A soft silicone charm with a printed QR code and a passive NFC chip: a phone camera reads the code, a phone with NFC reads a tap, either opens her Ask A Vet profile in the browser with no app for the finder, and you get a scan alert. No battery. Small or Medium; dimensions and weight to be confirmed by measuring one (the tag page carries the same note)
- Coverage
- The tracker needs GPS reception and mobile coverage where she is; check the country list on askavet.com before buying. When reception is weak the app shows the last reported position and its accuracy
- In the box
- One Cat GPS Tracker with one USB-C cable, two silicone straps and a quick-start guide (the Ask A Vet spec sheet); one Cat Smart ID Tag with its clip ring and setup instructions. No collar, no charger plug
- Tag designs
- Avocado, Boba, Chocolate Pink, Chocolate Purple, Coffee, Donut, Dumpling, Ramen, Sakura Matcha, Salmon Sushi, Sardines, Black, White, and the Slide-On
- Collar
- Not included. A breakaway cat collar with a D-ring; the tracker straps to it, the tag clips to the D-ring, the Slide-On threads onto the strap
- Packed
- 17 x 11.5 x 7.5 cm, about 240 g (the profitability sheet). Admin has every variant at 0 g. Ships as dangerous goods for the lithium battery
- Tracker colours
- Black / Gold or White / Gold. No photograph of the White / Gold on this listing or the tracker's

How to
How to set up both, fit both, and keep the tracker charged

Weigh her, and check the coverage
Over 4 kg, or this is a tag on its own for now. Then the country list on askavet.com: the tracker needs mobile coverage where she goes.

Activate the tag first
Scan it yourself; it opens the setup page for the Ask A Vet app. Her profile, two phone numbers, the medical line that matters. Ten minutes on the couch, and the tag is working before the tracker is charged.

Charge the tracker to full and add it to the same profile
USB-C, then the app's setup; it asks you to pick a plan here with the price shown first. Draw the home zone out to the road, not round the garden, and a power-saving zone on your home Wi-Fi.

Fit both to a breakaway collar
Tracker strap under her chin or to one side, screen out; tag on the D-ring. Two fingers under the collar, and a week indoors wearing both before she goes out in them.

Charge on a day, not on a warning
One day a week: the tracker comes off, the skin under it gets looked at, it goes back on charged. The tag never comes off, which is the point of it.
Vet noteDr Duncan Houston, emergency veterinarian
A cat's collar must be breakaway, no exceptions, and neither a tracker nor a tag changes that; a cat hung up by her collar is an emergency I have treated, and a snap-open collar is the whole defence. Cats under 4 kg do not wear the tracker; they wear the tag. Check the skin under the tracker and the collar every time you charge it: rubbing, hair loss or a sore means it comes off until healed and goes back looser, or not at all. The tag is on top of the microchip, not instead of it, so keep the registry's number current too. The tracker's temperature alert is the air at the collar, not her, and its activity and sleep tips are rules, not diagnoses; a cat who is doing less is a vet visit with the graph in hand. A cat who comes home after days away is a vet check even when she looks fine, because dehydration, bite wounds and abscesses show late. Neither of these keeps her off the road; the safest cat is still the one who is indoors at night. If anything about her collar, her skin or her numbers worries you, ask your vet.
Why these two together
Two ways home, because the first one runs on a battery.
The lost cats who come home fast are the ones somebody knew where to look for, and the tracker is for that: her position on your phone, and the radar for the last few metres under a shed. But a tracker is a battery, a plan and a mobile signal, and every one of those fails now and then, usually on the night it matters. The tag needs none of them. A stranger with a phone scans it, sees your number, and you get the call. It stays on her collar while the tracker is on the charger, a day or two a fortnight. Gary wears both.

Do I need a subscription, and what does it cost?
For the tracker, yes: live location, zones, activity and sleep need a Tracker Plan, paid monthly, or Premium, for two pets, with AI Vet Chat, two certified vet chats a month and health tracking. The app asks you to choose when you set the tracker up and shows the price first. The tag needs nothing: her profile is free for life, and so is the QR ID on the tracker's screen.
Why both, when the tracker has a QR code on its screen?
Because the tracker's QR needs a charged tracker with its screen on, and the tracker comes off her to charge every fortnight, can run flat on a bad night, and stops reporting outside coverage or off its plan. The tag has no battery and no plan: it is on her every hour of every day, and a tap or a scan reaches you whatever the tracker is doing. One finds her; the other makes sure she can be returned.
Is my cat big enough?
The tracker is 68 g with its strap and 57 x 45 x 22 mm, and the maker rates it for cats over 4 kg; this bundle holds to that, so weigh her. Under 4 kg, buy the Cat Smart ID Tag on its own, which weighs a few grams, and add the tracker when she is bigger. Over 4 kg, both go on a breakaway collar, with the skin under the tracker checked every time you charge it.
Which tag size and design, and does the tracker colour matter?
Small is the tag for a cat whatever her size; Medium is larger and easier to scan at arm's length, for a wide collar or a big cat. The Slide-On threads flat onto the strap for the cat who chews whatever dangles. The design is yours to pick; the Black and White carry the Ask A Vet paw. The tracker colour changes nothing but the colour, and only the Black / Gold has been photographed so far.
Will it work where I live, and does my phone need to be near her?
The tracker needs GPS reception and mobile coverage where she is, through partner networks, so check the country list on askavet.com before you buy; your phone does not need to be anywhere near her. When reception is weak the app shows the last reported position and how accurate it was. The tag works anywhere a finder has a phone: the code is printed and the chip is passive, and the profile opens in any browser.
What if something arrives damaged, or she will not wear it?
Email hello@purrz.com within 7 days of delivery with a photo and your order number; faulty, damaged or incorrect items are covered and we pay the return shipping when the error is ours. A cat who scratches at the tracker for a week is a cat who wears the tag alone for now; that is not a fault, it is a cat, and the tag is doing its job while you wait.
