Vet designed
Designed by emergency vet Dr Duncan Houston. Tested at home by Gary, a Ragdoll who sleeps in the Large and scratches the post on his way out of it.
How it works

The first thing a cat does after a sleep is stretch, and a cat stretches by hooking her claws into something upright and pulling down her whole length.

Cats sleep curled with their back against something and their chin on the edge of it, which is why the box beats the cushion.

A post gets abandoned the day it moves.
Size guide
Post: 60 cm tall, base 30 x 30 cmTo 5 kg
Post: 60 cm tall, base 30 x 30 cmTo 12 kg, or two
The bed size is the only size choice, and it is the same bed the bed page sells: measure her curled up, nose to tail base. Under about 35 cm she fits the Medium, which the bed page calls the Small (46 x 33 x 23 cm, rated to 5 kg). Over that, a cat who sleeps stretched out, or two who sleep together: the Large (62 x 65 x 30 cm, rated to 12 kg). The wall is 23 cm on one and 30 cm on the other, which is a step for a stiff cat; a stiff cat takes the Medium, placed where she can step down into it.
The post is one size in either set: 60 cm tall on a 30 x 30 cm base. Stand her against a wall with her front paws stretched as high as they go and measure to the paws; most cats come in under 60 cm, and a big cat reaches past the top and still uses it. The only post choice is the colour: White, or navy rope on the lower half.
What the set costs against its parts today, because both are sold on their own here: the Large set is under the bed and the post bought apart; the Medium set is over them. The crossed-out price on this page is always the two parts added up at their current prices, and nothing else.

How to

Fix the post to the base and tighten fully. Push the top with your hand: it should not rock. Check it again a month in.

The end of the sofa, the corner of your bed, the 10 am sun. Not a new spot; a new bed in her old spot. It ships compressed, so give it a day to loft.

Between the bed and whatever she scratches now. When she wakes and stretches, the rope is the nearest upright thing, not the sofa arm.

Drag a wand toy slowly up the rope so her claws catch it; a pinch of catnip if she likes it. Double-sided tape or a throw on the old spot for two weeks.

The bed washed the same day as any flea treatment. Loose rope fibres brushed off; a lifted strand trimmed, never pulled.
Vet noteDr Duncan Houston, emergency veterinarian
Two products, two things each to watch. The bed: a cat who chews the plush or pulls the filling out loses it, because swallowed stuffing is an obstruction, and plush holds heat, so in the summer sun it moves to the shade. The post: it has to be dead still or she will not use it, and one that rocks can tip onto a kitten, so check the fixing after assembly and again a month in; trim a lifted strand of rope rather than pulling it, and take the post away from a cat who eats the fibres instead of shedding them, because eating non-food things has causes a vet should hear about. Scratching is normal and healthy, and so is sixteen hours of sleep. A cat who suddenly scratches far more or somewhere new, who sleeps far more than she did, or who stops using a bed or a post she loved is telling you something has changed, pain or arthritis in an older cat especially: that is a vet visit before it is a shopping trip. Declawing is an amputation and is not a treatment for anything here. When in doubt about any of this, ask your vet.
Why these two together
A cat wakes, stands, arches, and within a minute hooks her claws into the nearest upright thing and pulls.

The post is positioned where she used to scratch the armchair and the donut bed is placed in her favourite sunny corner. Six weeks on and the armchair is unmarked — she goes straight to the post, then to the bed. The bundle practically paid for itself in furniture preservation.
The post redirects her from the couch and the donut bed is where she collapses afterward. Having both arrive together means the routine was established from day one — she scratches, then curls up and naps. Couldn't have planned it better myself.
FAQ
Today, it depends on the bed size. With the Large, the set is under the Large bed and the post bought apart. With the Medium, the set is over the two bought apart. The crossed-out price here is only ever the two parts added up at their current prices.
It is the same bed: 46 x 33 x 23 cm and rated to 5 kg, which the bed page calls the Small. Measure her curled up, nose to tail base: under about 35 cm, this one; over that, a cat who sleeps stretched out, or two who share, the Large at 62 x 65 x 30 cm, rated to 12 kg.
The bed in this set is the Grey, which is the one in every photograph here. The bed page also sells it in Cow Brown, white plush with brown patches, and for now that colour is only available on its own. The post is your choice: White all the way up, or navy rope on the lower half with white above, on the same wooden base.
Because the first thing a cat does after a sleep is stretch, and a cat stretches by hooking her claws into something upright and pulling down her whole length, within a step of where she slept. If she sleeps on the sofa, that is the sofa arm. Put the bed on her spot and the post a step from it, and the stretch lands on the rope every morning.
For most cats, yes: stand her against a wall with her front paws as high as they go and measure to the paws; most come in under 60 cm, and a big cat reaches past the top and still uses it. It is built not to tip: a 30 x 30 cm wooden base, about 3 kg, anti-slip feet. Tighten the fixing fully when you build it and push the top; it should not rock. Check again a month in.
The bed is machine washable and dryer safe. Wash it the same day as any flea treatment, because the eggs live in bedding. The rope: brush loose fibres off, trim a strand that lifts and never pull it. Paper rope wears in over months of daily use, and that wear is the post working.
Email hello@purrz.com within 7 days of delivery with a photo and your order number; faulty, damaged or incorrect items are covered and we pay the return shipping when the error is ours. The bed ships compressed, so give it a day to loft before you judge it, and put it where she sleeps now. A post she ignores is usually in the wrong place: move it beside the spot she scratches and give it two weeks.
