Vet designed
Designed by emergency vet Dr Duncan Houston. Worn at home by Gary, a Ragdoll in the Sardines, on a breakaway collar, with the spare in the drawer.
How it works

Each tag opens its own profile in the Ask A Vet app: her name, your numbers, the medical line that matters for that cat.

A cat's collar must open under her weight, so sooner or later it does, and the tag goes with it.

The QR is printed and the NFC chip is passive, so neither tag has a battery, and the profiles are free for life, so there is no subscription to forget.
Size guide

About 10 g a tag (admin)The cat size: most cats and every kitten

About 10 g a tag (admin)A larger tag: wide collars, or big cats

Both tags come in the size you pick, so the set is for two cats who take the same size, or one cat and her spare. Small is the tag for a cat whatever her size; Medium is larger, easier to scan at arm's length, for wide collars or big cats who do not notice it. A big cat and a kitten who need one of each buy two single tags today.
Any two designs, the same or different, and the Slide-On counts as one: it threads flat onto the strap for the cat who chews whatever dangles. In Medium, only some pairs are on the listing today; a greyed swatch means the pair cannot be ordered yet, not that it is sold out.
Breakaway collars only, for both cats: a collar that opens under her weight if it catches, fitted with two fingers flat under it, checked weekly, and every few days on a kitten. The tags are on top of the microchips, not instead of them; keep both registry numbers current too.

How to

Scan each tag yourself; each opens the setup page for the Ask A Vet app. One profile per cat, or both tags on one cat's profile if the second is her spare. Ten minutes on the couch.

Two phone numbers, one of them not yours. Her name. The medical line that matters for that cat: on medication, indoor only, do not feed. Not your address.

Clip ring through the D-ring; the Slide-On threads onto the strap. Two fingers flat under each collar, and each collar opens if you pull it hard.

Have a friend scan each code and tap each tag. Check each profile shows the right cat, and check the alert names the right tag on yours.

The drawer by the door, or on the harness. The day a collar comes off, the spare goes on the new one before she goes out again.
Vet noteDr Duncan Houston, emergency veterinarian
A cat collar must be a breakaway collar, one that opens under her weight if it catches on a branch or a fence, and these tags go on nothing else; a fixed collar with a dangling tag is a strangulation risk, and the emergency room sees the result. Fit each with two fingers flat between collar and neck, check them weekly, and check a kitten's every few days, because she grows out of it in a month. The tags are on top of the microchips, not instead of them: the chip is what a vet or a shelter reads when a cat arrives without a collar, so keep both registry numbers current too. A cat who chews at the charm gets the Slide-On, and a charm with a chewed edge comes off before a piece of it is swallowed. Two cats who share a house share parasites and infections, so when one comes home after days away, both get looked at. If they go outside, a bell on the collar is a separate decision, and the birds would like you to make it. A collar that has caught, or a swallowed piece of charm, is a same-day vet visit.
Why two
Breakaway collars are meant to come off, and they do, in a hedge or on a fence. When one goes, the tag goes with it, and the cat who most needs ID is the one who has just lost her collar somewhere she should not have been. A spare in the drawer goes on the new collar the same day. For two cats it is simpler: one each, one profile each, so a finder reaches you about the right cat. Either way this is the one set on the store priced below its parts, on purpose. Gary wears the Sardines; the spare waits.

I’ve treated enough cats to know one thing for certain — they don’t follow…
Alright, real talk — cats love a window. It’s basically their personal TV

Two battery free tags ensure both cats wear identification simultaneously without maintenance. The no subscription model appreciably reduces long term ownership costs.
I bought the bundle and split it as gifts for two cat-owner friends at different life stages — one chose the dumpling, one chose the sardines. Both were received with genuine delight and both friends have since messaged to say the tags have worked perfectly. A practical and charming gift solution.
FAQ
Yes, on this listing: the size you pick is the size of both. That suits two cats who take the same size, which is most pairs, and it suits one cat with a spare. A big cat on a wide collar and a kitten are two single tags today, and the page for the single tag has the sizes. Small is the tag for a cat whatever her size; Medium is the larger one for wide collars.
Yes, and it is one of the two reasons the set exists. Activate the second tag to the same profile, or give it its own, and keep it on the harness, on the carrier, or in the drawer by the door. Breakaway collars come off, and the spare goes on the new collar the same day, so she is never out for a week with nothing on her.
No, for either tag, ever. Each profile is free for life; you change your number, your address or a medical note in the Ask A Vet app in seconds and the tag on the collar is up to date the same moment. The app's Premium plan is a separate thing for the GPS trackers and the vet chat, and nothing about these tags needs it.
Because that pair is not on the listing yet, not because it is sold out. Shopify allows 250 variants on one product and two sizes by fourteen designs by fourteen designs is 392, so the listing stopped part way through Medium; it is being fixed. Every Small pair is there. If you want a Medium pair that is greyed out today, email hello@purrz.com and we will set it up by hand.
The finder points a phone camera at the QR code on the back, or taps the tag with a phone that has NFC, and that tag's profile opens in the browser: no app to download. They see what you chose to show, your numbers, her name, the medical line, and a button to tell you she is found. You get a notification naming which tag was scanned, with the scan's location where the finder's phone shares it.
A kitten wears the Small on a breakaway collar checked every few days, because she grows out of a collar in a month. A cat who chews at whatever dangles takes the Slide-On as one of her two, which threads flat onto the strap. Every collar these go on must open under her weight if it catches: a fixed collar with a dangling tag is a strangulation risk, and the emergency room sees the result.
Email hello@purrz.com within 7 days of delivery with a photo and your order number; faulty, damaged or incorrect items are covered and we pay the return shipping when the error is ours. A tag that will not scan out of the box is a fault, not a setup problem: send the photo, and activate the other one in the meantime so at least one cat is covered.
Part of the Ask A Vet ecosystem
PURRZ™ is the cat product arm of Ask A Vet, Dr Duncan Houston's animal health platform. Each tag's profile sits beside her weight, vaccinations, symptoms and reminders in the same free app, and a certified vet is there to chat to when something is not right.
