Vet designed
Designed by emergency vet Dr Duncan Houston. Tested at home by Gary, a Ragdoll who sits in the door like a bus driver.
How it works

Cats sleep and watch from height because height is safety: nothing comes from behind, everything is in view, and nothing bigger than her can follow.

Cats scratch to stretch their back and shoulders and to mark, and they do it on the way to somewhere, which is why the arm of the sofa gets it.

Compressed felt panels clip together into the shell, the wooden fins slot on and the ramp hooks to the door; no tools.
Size guide
About 120 cm tallAbout 3.7 kg packedOne cat at a time inside; a wall behind it and a metre in front for the ramp
About 120 cm tall

One cat at a time inside. The door and the platform are sized for a cat, not two, and a single high place in a multi-cat house is a thing to fight over; the second cat gets the Burj Cat-lifa Tower, the Window Hammock or a perch of her own.
A big cat: watch that she gets through the door and can turn round on the platform; a cat over about 6 kg is the one to watch.
Kittens and old cats: a kitten uses the ramp before she can jump the height, which is the point of it. An old cat with stiff hips may not manage the slope, and a cat who stops climbing to a place she loved is a vet visit before she is a new tower.

How to

Clip the felt panels into the shell where the seams sit flat, then the fins, then hook the ramp to the door. Give the felt a day standing up before you judge a seam.

Back to a wall, ramp into the room, somewhere she already climbs: beside the couch, near the window. Not in a doorway or a run.

Drag a wand up the ramp and through the door once or twice. Do not put her inside; a cat carried into a hide leaves it.

Push the top: a tall felt shell loosens a little as the clips settle. Re-seat any clip that has moved and check the ramp hook.

Felt holds fur; a lint roller keeps it white. Brush the sisal when it fluffs, and a ramp scratched through is the ramp doing its job.
Vet noteDr Duncan Houston, emergency veterinarian
A 120 cm felt tower stands on its own footprint, so it goes against a wall and not where a running cat can hit it side-on; check the clips after the first week and after any move, because a loosened panel is a tower that folds with a cat in it. One cat inside at a time; two cats in one hide with one door is a fight, and in a multi-cat house each cat needs a high place of her own. A cat who eats felt or sisal fibre rather than scratching it should lose access, and the habit should be mentioned to your vet, because eating things that are not food has causes. A cat who stops climbing to a place she loved, hesitates on the ramp or lands badly is a vet check for her joints before she is a new tower; giving up height is one of the earliest signs of arthritis in cats, and it is common and manageable. Keep the tower away from open windows and balcony rails: height indoors is safety, height beside an opening is a fall. If you are unsure about any of this, ask your vet.
Why I designed it
Ask a cat where she wants to be in a busy room: the fridge, the back of the couch, the shelf you did not clear for her.

Height and stability allow even larger or senior cats safe exploration and lounging options. The design encourages vertical climbing behavior beautifully.
This rocket inspired tower combines modern design with cat functional climbing and scratching surfaces. Every element serves behavioral and aesthetic purposes equally.
FAQ
It is 120 cm tall. The footprint is the body plus the ramp out the front, so allow a wall behind it and about a metre in front.
A platform behind the door, at the top of the ramp, where she sits with the room below her and a porthole to watch it through. What the photographs settle: one door, one ramp, a hide at height.
It stands on its own footprint, like every free-standing tower, so it goes against a wall and not in a run where a cat hits it side-on. Check the clips after the first week and after any move.
Because the ramp is the scratching post. Cats scratch to stretch and to mark, and they do it on the way to somewhere, which is why the arm of the sofa gets it. A sisal ramp for a front door turns every trip inside into a full-body stretch on the right surface. It also lets a kitten, or an older cat who no longer jumps the height, get up there at all.
Not at the same time. One door and one platform is one cat, and a single high place in a two-cat house is a thing to fight over. Give the second cat a high place of her own: the Burj Cat-lifa Tower, the Window Hammock or the top deck of the Al-Cat-Raz Cave. Height is how you reduce fighting between cats, but only when there is enough of it to go round.
A lint roller for fur, a damp cloth for marks, and let it dry with the door open. It is not machine washable and it does not want soaking; felt holds water and loses its shape. Brush the sisal on the ramp when it fluffs up. A ramp scratched through is the ramp doing its job; a replacement ramp is not sold on its own.

Felt panels arrive pressed flat; give them a day standing up before you decide a seam is wrong, and build it on a hard floor so the clips seat square.
